CSU Opening Weekend

The weekend of August 24th was a weekend for CSU sporting events in Fort Collins. My husband and I are both CSU Alumni so we enjoy supporting the home team. Over the years we have enjoyed going to many events on the CSU campus.

We started off the weekend with the CSU Volleyball home opener. About 10 of us went to see the game together and sat in general admissions seating. The seats range from $8-$12 dollars and there are no bad seats in Moby Gym.

We had a great time rooting for the home team. The stadium was filled with lots of families, alumni, and students. The crowd was loud and proud with the music rock’n. The Volleyball team played awesome even thou we lost in the 5th game to 12th ranked Illinois. The game is fast paced and super fun to watch!

I highly recommend going to the CSU Volleyball games. They are super fun, easy to access, and not too expensive. When our girls were growing up we took them to CSU events often…it was great family fun for all of us. We will be going again this season to cheer on our Girls Volleyball Team.

Next on Saturday night we went to the CSU Football home opener. The home opener started early for a little per-game tailgating with food, games, and of course beer. Outside the stadium their were many options for one to participate in. There were bands playing while sports enthusiasts walked around getting ready to enter the stadium. The CSU Marching Band played loud and proud as they walked down the main street to the front of the stadium. The vibe was positive and there were people everywhere of all ages, young and old alike.

After the tailgate time we entered the New Stadium on campus for the second season. The football team entered the field to the band and loud cheers from the fans. The beginning of the game was a little hard for us to watch but the team seemed to settle into the game during the second half. We did not pull off a win but we made the end of the game interesting. To me it doesn’t really matter if we win or loose although I like winning…the games are fun, the fans are great, and the interaction with one another is awesome. Chris and I love going to the games, it is a great date night for us and it has been a family tradition for years! When our girls were still living at home we always took them with us. I think including them in the college experience since they were young was one of the reasons they wanted to go to college when they got older.

CSU is not only a great place to attend college it offers wonderful opportunities to the people who call Fort Collins and Northern Colorado Home. We are truly blessed to have CSU be apart of our community. I recommend joining in on the fun!!!
