Is it time for a walk through a light experience designed to impress?
This is no secret, the Denver Zoo each year turns the Zoo into a magical forest of lights for guests to wander through and enjoy. As you walk around you will find yourself asking, “Wow, look at how many lights are on that tree?!” The lights are everywhere and the displays are elaborately designed. They have all different colors of lights throughout the park, some of which we rarely see so that make the designs even more unique. The Denver Zoo lighting experience raps through 80 acres, with millions of lights, winding on pathways around the Zoo.
As you stroll along the lighted route, you will find some animals sleeping under the night sky. Visitors can also visit a couple of the indoor exhibits along the way. There are lots of little places to stop and enjoy the lights while sitting on a bench drinking Hot Chocolate or Apple Cider. For the adults in the group you can get a spiked drink to enjoy if you so choose. In the middle of the Zoo there is a location to stop and warm up by the fire. There you will have the opportunity to roast s’mores. Who can say no to roasting s’mores on a cool winter night, not us!
We were able to attend this year’s lighting event as a family. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to walk around the Zoo at a leisurely speed while talking and laughing. The experience was quite relaxing, the lights have a mesmerizing effect. When we went it was chilly with clear skies but as I was walking I thought how beautiful it would be with a light snowfall. I would go whether it was clear or snowing, each scenario would be beautiful. I do recommend dressing quite warm since it takes at least a couple of hours to see the entire exhibit of lights.
The Denver Zoo Lights starts each year at the end of November and is open through the first of the New Year. Please access the Denver Zoo Website for details and the event, dates, times, and pricing. This is truly an event that all ages can enjoy. I look forward to going again next year and I encourage you to go and enjoy a little night time adventure at The Denver Zoo this holiday season.
