A Re-Opening of an Iconic, Historic Hotel in Old Town Fort Collins.
“Fort Collins Newest Old Thing”

The Armstrong Hotel has been a part of Old Town Fort Collins for over 95 years, opening its doors in 1923. When the hotel originally opened the hotel was the tallest building in Fort Collins offering travelers a place to stay and multiple dining halls. Recently the hotel has gone thru a major renovation honoring its historic beginnings but giving it a new lease on life.

The Hotel still embodies the clean, simple, symmetrical lines of the 20’s along with accents from the Art Deco era. In 2003 the original design of the Armstrong Hotel’s Sign was recreated from the photographs which showcases its Art Deco influence.

The new owners of The Armstrong Hotel purchased the property in 2017, with the goal to preserve the property as a local landmark and reestablish the hotel as a destination location for the Old Town Fort Collins community. Making The Armstrong Hotel a high quality, privately owned, boutique hotel involved extensive renovations which is now complete and the hotel is reopened to guest.

The owners and the design team have taken incredible care to create an atmosphere that celebrates the historic hotel and the history of the city it presides in. It is obvious when one pulls up to the hotel that great care has been taken to keep the original facade of the building. When entering into the lobby, the history of influential people within Fort Collins are on display with their portraits along the lobby wall. The lobby has been expanded to allow for people to gather and visit. There are now areas to enjoy a cup of coffee or engage in a conversation with friends.

I love the eclectic design from the fabric choices, to the different gathering spaces and seating arraignments. The bold black print, on the wall paper in the back, pays tribute to Colorado’s focus on agriculture and wildlife. The original circular staircase, is the statement piece of the lobby as it winds up to the second level of the hotel.

All 45 rooms have been completely redone with high quality finishes, furniture, and linens. The rooms are not your typical new hotel of today style, instead, they embody creator, warmth, design, and uniqueness, no room is exactly the same. The decor is new, but it feels timeless. The designs offer wonderful choices of art that give a subtle hint of the Art Deco history.

I truly enjoyed being able to tour The Armstrong Hotel after the completion of the renovations. The changes that are infused throughout the historic hotel’s remodel are done with, high quality conscious decisions to honor its history, and move it into todays world.
I will encourage out of town guest to stay at The Armstrong Hotel and enjoy its history. The location is perfect for guest to walk to dinner, go shopping, and explore the Old Town are of Fort Collins. It is a vacation destination for Fort Collins.

Come and Stay at The Armstrong Hotel, make it a night or a weekend.
